PDF Size: 98 kB History of the Flow Chart In the presentation they made to the members of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers in 1921, Frank and Lillian Gilbreth made the first structured method to document process flow. They called it the flow process chart. With the introduction of the flow process chart, the new curriculum of Industrial Engineering was born. After which, more engineers contributed to refining the different methods involved in accounting for process flows of different applications. Types of Flow Chart Generally, there are four different types of flowcharts that are characterized from the view of different user groups.
Document Flowcharts – This particular flowchart displays controls used for document-flow in a system. Data Flowcharts – shows controls over data-flow in a system. System Flowcharts – displays controls involved at the resource or physical level. A flow chart of a or uses this type of flowchart. Program Flowcharts – shows controls in a program within a system. A can also be shown through the use of this type of flowchart.
These are in no way the definitive types as many other types are created depending on the purpose and the user group making the flow chart. Segments of a Flow Chart. Flow Line – usually indicated by an arrow representing the next logical step or control it points to. Terminal – represented by rounded rectangles or circles. It represents the start or end of any process. Process – indicated by rectangles, it shows any operation being done. Decision – represented by a diamond.
It shows the necessity of an input decision. This is commonly a Yes/No or a True/False condition. For more complex decisions, other predefined process symbols are made to filter data. Input/Output – shown as a parallelogram, this includes reception of data and displaying the processed data. This only moves from input to output and not the other way around. Predefined Process – shown as rectangles with double-struck vertical edges. These represent complex processing steps which may be detailed in a separate.
Preparations – shown as a hexagon usually called initialization. These represents operations that have no effect but prepare the value for a condition or decision step. On-Page Connectors – represented by a circle which shows multiple convergence of control flows that have a single exit flow. This means it will have multiple arrows coming in to it but only one arrow going out. Off-Page Connectors – shown as a home plate-shaped pentagon. This represents a “connector” to another page. Labelled Connectors – they are simply connectors having an identifying label inside the circle.
These are commonly used in complex or multi-sheet diagrams. Concurrency symbol – shown as a double transverse line with any number of entry and exit arrows. Commony used when two or more control flows operate at the same time.
Data Flow Extensions These symbols represent data flow rather than control flow. These are commonly used in data flowcharts but can alternately be used in control flow charts. Document – represented as a rectangle with a wavy base. Manual Input – shown as a quadrilateral with an irregular top sloping from left to right. This is usually indicative of a data entry from any form.
Manual Operation – shown as a trapezoid having the longest parallel side at the top. This shows that an adjustment to the process or operation can only be made manually.
Data File – represented by a cylinder In our modern times, there are a number of software programs that some people use to create flowchart diagrams. Depending on its use and function, these software programs exist to assist a specific user.
For example, there are programs specifically made for teachers to assist in the basics of. Emergency Flow Chart Emergency Response Flow Chart. File Format.

Graduation Ball Program Flow Sample
Our best wishes and prayers for the newly married couple that they will love each other forever. When I host a wedding reception program, I do not ascertain myself as the sphere of regard. I am there to steer the flow for a smooth transition of an activity to another not spending time snapping jokes or shouting my communique to the top of my voice.
Program Flow Sample
I am there making guests at ease and the couple at their right toes at all times. I am there making things smoothly at the handle. I do not have the deepest voice others forcefully do but I am careful of what comes out from my mouth. I still believe that less talk, less mistakes. But words must be thick set and strong. That I strive to be second to none. It is not my thing to bellow every word I say but play up what is important and being a trained singer knows speaking in waves.
There is much to improve and the first brave person to remind my foibles squarely at my face is my brother and rouse me to realize that I have to be more careful. I love the call and I want to reiterate that I am there not to steal the show but frame one.

It must also include many different policies, procedures and protocols to address aspects of the program including surveillance, prevention, education and employee health. To keep the many components of the program in order, Brainerd Lakes Surgery Center in Baxter, Minn., developed an infection control program flow chart. This chart was presented to the ASC's board and approved, and has become as an integral part of the program. To download a sample version of the ASC's infection control program flow chart, provided by Sandy Berreth, administrator of the ASC and a AAAHC surveyor, for you to adapt for use in your ASC, (doc).

Program Flow Programs are recipes which have a particular start spots and special rules on how the computer follows them. In general, a program will start at some 'main' routine and continue 'downward' one line at a time until the end of the function is reached. Any time another function is encountered, all lines of code inside that function will be completed, before continuing in the current function. Any time an 'if' statement is reached, a decision will be made on whether to execute one set of statements or another. Any time a loop is reached, a set of statements may be repeated zero or more time. Program Flow Programs are executed in a well defined manner. In the absence of specific 'Control Structures' code always 'flows': From Top to Bottom (from left to right) In a single Line of Code In any particular line of code, the following order of operations happens:.
parenthetical statements are computed first (those inside of parentheses). everything to the right of an assignment statement. finally, the assignment itself (if there is one) Road Signs for Code (Control Statements) Often there are 'road signs' that affect which is the next of code to be executed.
The common 'road signs' are:. Branches (primarily the if statement). Loops (primarily the for and while loops). Function Calls. Misc (break, continue, etc) There are specific rules in our programming languages that detail what to do when each of the above is encountered. Primarily, for Branches and Loops, some condition is evaluated, and if true, the program takes one course, if false, another. Function calls are always executed in their entirety and once done, continue with the next line in the program.
Certain commands, such as break, continue, etc can be used to 'short circuit' the flow of a program. While useful in a few isolated contexts, these statements should mostly be avoided by the beginning programmer.
